Ilena Zanella

Biologist with emphasis on marine and freshwater biology, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.

Master scientiae in Wildlife Conservation and Management, Instituto en Conservación y Manejo de Vida Silvestre, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.

During the last 5 years, Ilena has been involved in several marine researches. She has worked with the Costa Rican organizations and with the Universidad Nacional in research projects, education and conservation of sharks. Moreover, in her Master's thesis, she characterized the scalloped hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini) fishery in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica, describing the distribution and the alimentation of S. lewini in a nursery area. At this moment, Ilena is the President of Shark Mission.

Andrés López

Biologist with emphasis in marine biology, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.

Licenciado in Marine and Freshwater Management, Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica.

Andres has been working in fisheries research projects in Costa Rica, for the last ten years. He has collaborated with the Universidad Nacional and with the Costa Rican organizations in marine investigation projects, where he was involved in several conservation initiatives with turtles, rays and sharks, working to the side of fishermen and other researchers. Nowadays, Andres is the Vice president and the projects coordinator of Shark Mission.

Lourdes Amador Arredondo

Biologist with an emphasis on marine and freshwater biology, National University of Costa Rica

Lourdes is now finishing her thesis to qualify for the Licenciatura in Biology with emphasis in Management of Marine and Freshwater Resources of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, which is entitled "Describe and analyze the artisanal fishery of the longtail stingray, Dasyatis longa, in Tárcoles, Puntarenas". During the field phase of this research Lourdes has developed valuable experience in the identification and in the biology of coastal species, and in the work with artisanal fishermen.

Sonia Alvarado Porras

In the last years of her career, Sonia has developed a healthy commitment to the conservation of marine resources. With her charisma and experience in public relations, she assistance the association in the organization of social and cultural events for fundraising. Money raised at these events, will be used in the different projects of our organization.

Yorleny Rivera

International Relationship with emphasis on administration and management of international cooperation, Universidad Internacional de las Américas, Costa Rica.

In the last years of her career, Yorleny has acquired valuable experience in public relations and has developed a special interest on the environmental responsibility of companies. At this moment, she is collaborating with us in the funds raising from national and international companies.

Jose spent 10 years of his life in California, United States, during this time he acquired total dominium of the English language, both written and spoken. With his understanding He strongly supports the reviewing of documents, texts, and proposals elaborated by Mision Tiburon for the English speaking community. Besides his admiration and compromise towards our ocean life, Jose also works with projects in Marine Education in coastal communities of Costa Rica.
